Marnie Cabezas

In the early 90s, Marnie began her career as a midwife, but, while helping new moms bring babies into the world, she noticed that she and her colleagues were having trouble getting reimbursed for their work. In 1998, she purchased the fledgling Midwife’s Billing Service, Inc. with the goal of helping midwives receive fair compensation for their invaluable services. Since then, Marnie has been mastering the ins and out of billing, coding, and contracting while riding the rollercoaster of ever-changing rules and technologies. Her business has been growing steadily through all the industry changes, and, in 2016, she officially opened the company up to all independent medical practitioners, choosing the new name Innovation Billing Service, Inc. to coincide with the change. In 2019, Marnie began an independent venture as Medical Practice Management-Consulting to provide consulting services to a wider audience of practices who are not seeking full billing services. In 2020 she became a working executive member of the board of directors for Breath of Life Birth Center and has been instrumental in helping the company transition away from a larger umbrella nonprofit into its own autonomous and successful organization.
